As I get ready to leave, I wanted to put up a quick post about how important I think it is to be “ready to go” as a photographer. The photo in this particular post is a shot of the skyline of Fredericton, New Brunswick, taken at about 8 pm a week or so ago. At 7:45, I had been sitting at home and realized that the light was getting pretty good, and I just grabbed my camera bag and went to the water front, set up, and shot this.
Had my gear not been ready, I would have missed it.
Moral – keep your stuff ready, your batteries charged, your lenses clean, and your memory cards ready to roll. Tripod plate on the camera, that sort of thing. You never know when you’ll need to go.
